Feel like the world is falling apart? That’s exactly what’s happening. It’s called Growth.
In the very early stages mitosis, all the intricate systems of life are reorganizing and restructuring in preparation to become two. Polarizing forces. Chaos and disruption in a cell whose “happy place” is homeostasis. Although there is an ostensible grace in the process, the cell itself is being ripped in half—and simultaneously healing—using nothing but its own Life-Force. Seems violent and somewhat traumatic. And miraculous. Life…
It’s no wonder the caterpillar goes into a cocoon, hidden from the world in a private cozy little pod, to do the difficult work of transformation. Evolution is messy, and if we saw it happening in front of us, we probably wouldn’t allow it to be. We’d try to clean it up and rush it along, projecting our own disgust, inadequacy, lack of understanding, and the judgments that our so-called “superior'' human brain makes every 7-seconds. Being intolerant of change can effectively hijack an otherwise naturally perfect process, so that nothing delicate could possibly flourish. We can’t help ourselves, after all, we ARE human meaning-makers.
It’s the Evolution of the World as we know it, and I feel fine…
That’s what’s happening in the world right now—inevitable Life-Force is stirring things up according to how we need to grow. The chaos and turmoil within our own communities has been palpable for some time now, as all of our strongest energies and ideals are polarizing us in preparation to evolve. People are arguing…about everything…believing they’re choosing sides and fighting for righteousness or power. In fact, the sustained adrenaline and the negative charge of anger is exactly the momentum required for a civil war, of sorts; the necessary demolition, in most unceremonious fashion, before we can come together to build something new. The stronger the magnetism of opposition, the more deeply imbedded the infrastructures are that need to change. We can’t take off until the path is clear, which can only happen in its own good time and way. Life-Force knows what it’s doing, and there’s no such thing as a mistake.
We are each the cells of humanity, and we are preparing to evolve. Growth is always painful and messy, and once the splitting begins, we cannot return to the old way of being. People die the way they live, so I imagine the same is true of cells. Any intense pulse of energy affects each one differently: some are the first to pop, and modeling for the others nearby; others are late bloomers, and require more time and a saturated environment so their process may not to stand out; the weak, old, or defective ones probably won’t be able to make the transition, and anything committed to staying the same was never meant for the front-line of change anyway. Those who can’t tolerate mess, although chemically equipped with what they need, will find the chaos of these times too hard to take, and become collateral damage of progress for the greater good. And even the ones who resist, the agitators, who lash out and appear to do damage are actually the grains of sand that irritate the smooth muscle to produce a pearl—
We need resistance to grow strong. It’s nothing personal. It’s just life, and it’s relentless. What could feel more personal than that?
As the Beatles said, “Turn off your mind and gently float down-stream. It is not dying. It is not dying…” Well, maybe we’re not physically dying, every Change IS a Loss, and in order to evolve, we must learn to mourn and let go of that which no longer serves us. It’s not comfortable, and certainly isn’t easy, but when you remember that you are stronger and more resilient than you feel, you may find the courage to breathe through the pain and be open to evolution. There is transcendence in being compassionate toward yourself and all the little cells within and around you, and as soon as you see it, you’re already there. We are living through the destruction of the world as we knew it, and the formation of a new one that we cannot yet fathom. It’s an upgrade… make no mistake about it… But it’s not for the faint of heart. If you’re here for this part, it means you are a strong, brave, resilient, insightful, compassionate Being, whose purpose is to provide leadership, comfort, or education for the generations to come. Godspeed my friends. I’ll see you on the other side…
